About this Role

We are looking for a Director of Education to join our Trust’s dynamic Executive Leadership Team.  Working collaboratively with our 19 academies, central teams, and partners you will have the opportunity to enhance and deliver excellent education to our 9,000 pupils both inside and outside the classroom.

Active Learning Trust is an innovative and forward-thinking Multi Academy Trust dedicated to providing high-quality education that empowers our young people to reach their full potential in the widest sense. With a commitment to excellence, collaboration, and innovation, we are on a mission to create a positive impact on the lives of our students.

Active Learning Trust has gone through significant positive change over the last 12 months, ensuring a more sustainable approach to improving education for our children.  We have a child centred ethos and work hard to achieve great things together but also have a strong commitment to providing an excellent working environment for our employees that focuses on professional development, career pathways and promotes employee well-being.

As Director of Education you will develop and implement the Trust’s Educational Strategy but also contribute as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team to the wider aspects of Trust leadership, contributing to the development of the Trust’s strategy and culture. Specifically, you will be focused on:

  • Vision and Strategy: Developing and implementing a visionary educational strategy that aligns with the trust’s purpose, vision and values.
  • Team Leadership: Working with a talented team of Academy Improvement Advisors to drive improvement in and across academies.
  • Developing Leaders: Driving standards of leadership across the academies ensuring that they are sustainably good providers of education.
  • Driving Standards: Through vision, strategy and leadership that academies are ensuring all pupils demonstrate the best outcomes possible.
  • Innovative Curriculum: Driving the continuous improvement of the curriculum to ensure it meets the highest standards of excellence and relevance.
  • Professional Development: Fostering a culture of continuous learning by providing guidance and support to educators, ensuring they have the tools and knowledge to excel in their roles.
  • Quality Assurance: Designing and implementing rigorous quality assurance processes to monitor and enhance teaching and learning outcomes across all academies.
  • Stakeholders: Collaborating with stakeholders including trustees and external partners to enhance educational opportunities.
  • Innovation: Driving innovation in the sector by staying abreast of relevant research evidence, educational trends and advancements, integrating innovative approaches to enhance the overall learning experience.

We are looking for an experienced and proven strategic educational leader who can apply their intellectual and interpersonal capabilities to drive improvement across all of our academies. You will be restless for improvement in our academies and the sector and passionate about the work of the Multi Academy Trust as an organisation to achieve this.

You will be an excellent communicator and be able to utilise your outstanding interpersonal skills to inspire a diverse range of stakeholders.  You will be forward-thinking, with the capability of driving positive change and innovation and build and lead a high-performing team in a collaborative and supportive way.

You will be preoccupied with three questions:

  1. What is the best way to develop and keep great leaders in our academies?
  2. What is the best way for pupils to learn and fulfil their potential?
  3. How can we act as a Trust to ensure our academies are always good or better and achieving the best outcomes possible?

We will offer the right candidate:

  1. The opportunity to be part of a dynamic, experienced and forward-thinking Executive team who are passionate about their work and the potential for the trust.
  2. The opportunity to lead and shape a talented team of Academy Improvement Leads and specialists within the Education Team.

  4. The platform and support to go on to future roles as Chief Executive Officer in a trust or other educational leadership.
  5. A bespoke training package including individual coaching.
  6. A competitive package including health insurance.

Our academies are based across East Anglia.  You will need to be willing to travel to our academies as necessary.
