About this Role

About Westminster City School

Westminster City School is a successful and inclusive Church of England secondary school for boys, located in the heart of London. The school has a strong academic record, a clear Christian ethos, and a commitment to developing young people who are confident, articulate and compassionate citizens.

As a single academy trust, the school benefits from close working relationships with partner schools and a supportive Foundation team, while retaining a strong individual identity and sense of community.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Finance to lead all aspects of financial management at Westminster City School. This is a key senior role, working closely with the Headteacher, Governors and Foundation colleagues to ensure robust financial planning, strong controls and long-term sustainability.

The post holder will play a central role in supporting the school’s journey from a deficit position to long-term financial stability, helping to build reserves and ensure best value in all financial decisions.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled school finance professional who is looking to make a tangible impact at both strategic and operational levels.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a candidate who brings both technical expertise and strong interpersonal skills.

Essential:

  • Significant experience working in a school or academy finance function
  • Strong knowledge of DfE finance requirements, academies funding and compliance
  • Proven experience of budget planning, monitoring and financial reporting
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting equality, diversity and inclusion
  • Recognised finance qualification or qualified accountant status
  • Willingness to support the Christian ethos of the school
